A universidade possui como objetivo a formação de egressos críticos e com autonomia intelectual, comprometidos com as necessidades do corpo social. Nesse contexto, a extensão universitária cumpre importante papel na formação técnica completa, bem como na construção de indivíduos humanizados. O presente artigo teve como objetivo principal identificar percepções da comunidade acadêmica de uma universidade federal do Rio Grande do Sul sobre as ações de extensão realizadas na instituição, a partir de um estudo exploratório, de cunho quantitativo e qualitativo, usando o método de levantamento do tipo Survey e análise documental. A pesquisa foi realizada com 90 acadêmicos que participaram da equipe executora de ações de extensão da universidade. Os resultados encontrados apontam que a extensão feita pela universidade está voltada para projetos sociais que contribuem para a melhoria da qualidade de vida da população e para a formação completa dos estudantes elaborando novas práxis de conhecimento através do saber vindo da comunidade. Entretanto, os discentes ainda encontram algumas dificuldades para participarem das ações de extensão devido à dificuldade na obtenção de informações. As ações de extensão realizadas pela instituição vêm alcançando anseios das políticas educacionais.

The university aims the formation of critical graduates with intellectual autonomy, committed to the needs of the social body. In this context, university extension plays an important role in the complete technical training, as well as in the construction of humanized individuals. In this way, this article aimed to identify perceptions of the academic community of a Rio Grande do Sul Federal University about the extension actions carried out in the institution. For that, an exploratory study, of quantitative and qualitative character was carried out, using the Survey method and documentary analysis. The research was carried out with 90 academics who participated in the executing team of the university extension actions. The results shows that the extension made by the university is focused on social projects that contribute to the improvement of the population’s life quality and to the complete formation of the students, elaborating new praxis of knowledge through the knowledge coming from the community. However, the students still find some difficulties to participate in the extension actions due to the difficulty in obtaining information. The extension actions carried out by the institution are reaching educational policy goals.
