Resumo Inglês:

This paper deals with the weak non-linear theory of dispersive waves in geophysical fluids, where a review of the main results that have been published on this topic is made, highlighting the possible implications for some fundamental questions regarding the dynamics of the atmosphere . Special emphasis is given on the difference between the interactions at the mid-latitudes and the equatorial waveguide. The aquired analysis is restricted to the case where the wave disturbances are immersed in a basic state at rest. Also discussed are possible topics for future work regarding the application of this theory to the equations governing the dynamics of the atmosphere, including the effect of vertical stratification and more realistic basic flows
