Este trabalho constitui-se parte da dissertação de mestrado apresentada ao Programa de Pósgraduação em História da FAFICH/UFMG. Neste artigo procurei analisar as relações de concubinato firmadas como opção familiar dos diversos agentes sociais que habitaram a Comarca do Rio das Velhas, na Capitania de Minas Gerais, no período de 1720 a 1780. Nos documentos sobre as visitas pastorais e devassas eclesiásticas associadas aos testamentos, foram examinados aspectos referentes à mestiçagem biológica e cultural de homens e mulheres que em momentos diferentes da vida recriaram modos de viver e instituíram caminhos e alternativas que lhes possibilitaram condições objetivas de inserção social e familiar numa sociedade escravista.
In this article I tried to the concubinage as the several social agents' family option they inhabited the District of Rio das Velhas, in the Captaincy of Minas Gerais, in the period from 1720 to 1780. Through ecclesiastical and civil sources as visits pastorals, ecclesiastical profligates and testaments had been examined referring aspects to the biological and cultural of men and women mestization that created again manners of living and had instituted ways and alternatives that make possible them objective conditions of social and family insertion in a oppressive society.
