Introdução: Sabe-se que alterações fisiológicas alteram diretamente a condição de absorção e aproveitamento de macronutrientes, micronutrientes, vitaminas e minerais, o que consequentemente interfere na nutrição e no peso do paciente. Tendo em vista a predisposição para diversas doenças, a frequente visita a um nutricionista e uma boa alimentação é fundamental para manter um peso adequado, e um bom funcionamento do organismo de um portador de Síndrome de Down. Objetivo: Este estudo visa identificar quais fatores interferem na ocorrência de sobrepeso em portadores da trissomia do cromossomo 21, ou Síndrome de Down. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura que selecionou textos científicos que responderam aos objetivos. Conclusão: A relação entre a síndrome e o sobrepeso existem, mas não significa que não possa ser controlado. Por isso a importância de um acompanhamento nutricional com um profissional da área. Resumo Inglês:

Introduction: It is known that physiological changes directly alter the condition of absorption and use of macronutrients, micronutrients, vitamins and minerals, which consequently interferes with the patient's nutrition and weight. In view of the predisposition to various diseases, the frequent visit to a nutritionist and a good diet is essential to maintain an adequate weight, and a good functioning of the body of a Down Syndrome patient. Objective: This study aims to identify which factors interfere with the occurrence of overweight in patients with chromosome 21 trisomy, or Down syndrome. Methodology: This is a literature review that selected scientific texts that responded to the objectives. Conclusion: The relationship between the syndrome and overweight exists, but it does not mean that it cannot be controlled. Therefore, the importance of nutritional monitoring with a professional in the field. Keywords: overweight, Down’s Syndrome, nutrition, health.
