Esta pesquisa está inserida no Projeto REMAM – Rede de Monitoramento e Pesquisa de Fenômenos Meteorológicos Extremos na Amazônia, que estuda o clima da Amazônia através da observação de fenômenos extremos no período 1961 a 2007. O objetivo deste trabalho é identificar os grandes episódios de precipitação e temperatura na cidade de Manaus no período compreendido entre 1961 e 1970, utilizando os registros das planilhas diárias fornecidas pelo Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia – INMET. Foram considerados os seguintes critérios metodológicos: 1) para precipitação, foram tidos como extremos, os eventos iguais ou superiores a 50 mm/dia; 2) para temperatura, valores absolutos iguais ou superiores a 35ºC (máxima) e iguais ou inferiores a 20ºC (mínima). Os resultados apresentados nesse trabalho, ainda preliminares, referem-se à primeira década do período proposto pelo Projeto REMAM. Eventos de larga escala tiveram certa influência principalmente o El Niño, que ocorreu em três períodos nesta década.

This research is inserted in the Project REMAM – Rede de Monitoramento e Pesquisa de Fenômenos Meteorológicos Extremos na Amazônia, that studies the climate of the Amazonia through the observation of extreme phenomena in the period 1961 to 2007. The objective of this paper is to identify the great precipitation episodes and temperature in the city of Manaus in the period understood between 1961 and 1970, using the registrations of the daily spreadsheets supplied by the Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia – INMET. For this research the following methodological criteria were used: 1) for precipitation, ends were considered, the events same or superior to 50 mm/day; 2) for temperature, same or superior absolute values to 35ºC (maxim) and same or inferior to 20ºC (low). The results presented in that paper, still preliminaries, refer to the first decade of the period proposed by the Project REMAM. Events of large scale had some influence, mainly the El Niño, that happened in three periods on this decade.
