O artigo analisa como a obra Casa-grande & senzala, de Gilberto Freyre, representa o português colonizador do Brasil. Ao relatar minuciosamente a formação do povo lusitano e sua aptidão para a miscigenação, o autor Gilberto Freyre transcende os discursos oficiais da época e constrói um personagem empreendedor e contemporizador, que se destaca positivamente dos demais colonizadores europeus. Por sua vez, o português colonizador também inventa a imagem da sociedade brasileira- a ficção da ficção. Ao afirmar que a nossa colonização formou uma sociedade e uma cultura híbridas, o autor não se esquece de apontar para o caráter híbrido do português, no que diz respeito as suas origens. Análise polêmica, que recebe críticas severas ao longo dos anos, a obra é também um das maiores contribuições para o entendimento da formação da sociedade brasileira patriarcal e escravocrata.

The article examines how Casa-grande & senzala, Gilberto Freyre, represent the portuguese colonizer of Brazil. To thoroughly report the formation of the lusitanian people and their ability to miscegenation, the author Gilberto Freyre transcends the official discourse of the time and builds an entrepreneur and temporizing character that stands out positively from the other European colonizers. In turn, the Portuguese colonizers also invents the image of brazilian society - fiction from fiction. To say that our colonization formed a partnership and a hybrid culture, the author does not forget to point to the hybrid character of the Portuguese, regarding its origins. Controversial analysis, which receives severe criticism over the years, the work is also a major contribution to the understanding of the formation of patriarchal slavery and brazilian society.
