Este artigo apresenta os fundamentos de uma nova forma de formação continuada
dos docentes em exercÃcio. Trata-se das comunidades de prática estudadas por Jan
Lave e Etienne Wenger. Primeiro, define-se o que são comunidades de prática. Em
seguida, apresentam-se os fundamentos epistemológicos da mediação nessas
comunidades, tendo como base as interpretações de Vygostky segundo James V
Wertsch, Michel Cole entre outros. Finalmente são apresentadas as possibilidades
dessa formação docente em comunidades de prática virtuais.

This paper presents the beddings of a new form of continued formation of the
professors in exercise. One is about the communities of practice studied by Jan Lave
and Etienne Wenger. First, it is defined what are communities of practice. After that,
the epistemological foundation of social mediation in these communities are
presented, having as base the interpretations of Vygostky according to James V.
Wertsch, Michel Cole among others. Finally the possibilities of this teaching formation
in communities of practical virtual are presented.
