Este texto propõe uma discussão acerca do cômico, desde o surgimento da comédia na Grécia Antiga, tendo como base as considerações de estudiosos de destaque nos estudos desta área, tais como Brandão (1999), Kury (1995), Jaeger (2001), Bergson (1980) Propp (1992), entre outros. Pretende-se refletir sobre as transformações às quais esteve sujeita a comédia, bem como as diferentes perspectivas de interpretação do cômico no contexto da produção literária do Ocidente. Por meio desta reflexão intenta-se contribuir para o entendimento das causas que levaram à “compreensão” do cômico como um “gênero literário menor” e para o entendimento de sua ambivalência na perspectiva bakhtiniana.
This text proposes a discussion regarding the comical genre, since the birth of comedy in Ancient Greece, having as a basis the ponderings from known scholars in the area, such as Brandão (1999), Kury (1995), Jaeger (2001), Bergson (1980), Propp (1992), among others. The intention is to reflect on the transformations in which comedy has been subjected, as well as the different perspectives of interpretation of the comical in the context of Western's literary production. Through this reflection the intent is to contribute to the understanding of the causes that led to the “comprehension” of comic as “lesser literary genre” and to the understanding of its ambivalence on a bakhtinian perspective.
