Essa pesquisa tem como objetivo geral descrever as reações, do ponto de vista acadêmico e social acerca da função diaconal da igreja na sociedade, apontando de três formas sua função diaconal, tratando-se da função missional, do serviço social e do desenvolvimento profético pelo ensino das Sagradas Escrituras. Foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico de renomados autores, tais como, Eli Bento Corrêa, Hernandes Dias Lopes, Arival Dias Casimiro, John Piper, Russell P. Shedd, Timothy Keller, além de documentos, como, o Dicionário Bíblico Tyndale, Editora Ultimato, a Agência Presbiteriana de Missões Transculturais (APMT) e Bíblias com diferentes versões (Nova versão transformadora, João Ferreira de Almeida entre outros). Apresenta-se, também, uma pesquisa de campo por meio de entrevista observando nos dados investigados os desafios e expectativas, tanto do campo teórico como na prática da igreja na sociedade.
The general objective of this research is to describe the reactions, from an academic and social point of view, regarding the diaconal function of the church in society, pointing out its diaconal function in three ways: the missionary function, social service and prophetic development through the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. A bibliographical survey was carried out of renowned authors, such as Eli Bento Corrêa, Hernandes Dias Lopes, Arival Dias Casimiro, John Piper, Russell P. Shedd, Timothy Keller, as well as documents such as the Tyndale Bible Dictionary, Editora Ultimato, the Presbyterian Agency for Transcultural Missions (APMT) and Bibles with different versions (New Transformative Version, João Ferreira de Almeida, among others). A field research is also presented through interviews, observing the challenges and expectations in the data investigated, both in the theoretical field and in the practice of the church in society.
