A FUNÇÃO POLÍTICA DAS CANTIGAS DE SANTA MARIA NO REINO DE AFONSO X (CASTELA E LEÃO, 1252-1284)

Estudo da função política das Cantigas de Santa Maria – obra que conjugou poesia, música e
iconografia, considerada uma verdadeira “catedral do saber” –, nos projetos do rei sábio, Afonso X
(Castela e Leão, 1252-1284). Partiu-se do pressuposto que não há um corte entre o vivido e o imaginário,
e atribuiu-se às cantigas um papel também estruturante das relações sócio-políticas na Castela afonsina,
no sentindo de estabelecer e integralizar diferenças étnicas e sociais. Além disso, é feita breve análise do
papel transformador da palavra na sociedade baixo-medieval, no momento em que sua veiculação na
forma escrita se intensifica.

Resumo Inglês:

Study of the political function of the Cantigas de Santa Maria – work that gathered poetry,
music and iconography, being considered a real “cathedral of knowledge”–, in the projects of the learned
king, Alfonso X (Castile and Leon, 1252-1284). Assuming that there is no cut between the imaginary and
the lived, it is attributed to the cantigas an also structuring role of the socio-political relations in the
Alfonsine Castile, in the sense of establishing and integrating social and ethnical differences. Furthermore,
it is briefly analyzed the changing role of the word in the late medieval society, in a time whose
circulation in the written form intensifies.
