Considerando as origens da universidade brasileira, esta reflexão tem por foco a
Universidade Federal do Rio Grande - Furg. Após breve evocação de sua história e com base
em estudos anteriores, são revisitados depoimentos relativos a concepções de universidade e
repercussões da Filosofia e PolÃtica da instituição. É feita, ainda, uma leitura interpretativa do
documento que acolhe o Projeto Pedagógico da Furg, especialmente no que se refere Ã
concepção de universidade ali presente. À luz dessas fontes e temas e num processo
hermenêutico de ressignificação, aliado ao exercÃcio de compreensão da trajetória da
Universidade, busca-se reconhecer percursos e sentidos institucionais.
Considering the origins of the Brazilian University, this reflection is focused on the
Federal University of Rio Grande - Furg. After brief evocation of its history and based on
previous studies, are revisited testimonials on conceptions of University and repercussions of
the Philosophy and Politics of the institution. Is made, also, an interpretative reading of the
document that hosts the Pedagogic Project of Furg, especially in terms of the conception of
University present there. In light of these sources and themes and in a hermeneutic process of ressignification, coupled with the pursuit of understanding the trajectory of the University, we
seek to recognize institutional pathways and meanings.
