Neste artigo tecemos algumas das possÃveis relações entre a História (produção acadêmica) e a vida de Gandhi, amplamente registrada, porém pouco absorvida pelos diversos setores da academia que poderiam se beneficiar com o estudo do seu pensamento e ação. Feito esse diagnóstico, passamos a examinar a noção de verdade e sua instrumentalização por Gandhi através de sua autobiografia, com o objetivo de nos aproximar de um entendimento acerca da importância histórica do método de luta polÃtica não-violenta por ele posto em prática – o satyagraha (firmeza na verdade). Com isso retornamos à macro-história para fazer um exercÃcio de apreciação das questões gandhianas nos relatos do imperialismo e da descolonização.
The present article offers some possible relations between History (academic research) and the life of Gandhi, widely reported but poorly absorbed by the various sectors of the academy that could benefit the study of his thought and action. With this diagnosis, we examine the notion of truth and its instrumentation by Gandhi through his autobiography, with the goal of us closer to an understanding of the historical importance of method of political struggle non-violently by him put into practice – the satyagraha (firmness in truth). With this we return to the macro-history to make an appreciation exercise of the issues Gandhian in the narratives of imperialism and decolonization.
