Eighty specimens of fish known as "joanas", belonging to the Zoological Collection of the Department of Biology, from the Ibicuí River and the Aquaculture Sector of the UFSM, were studied and identified as Crenicichla lepidota Heckel, 1840 and their comparative meristem and morphometric data with those of literature.
