OBJECTIVES: To raise a reflection on the high number of deaths in women of reproductive age and their possible causes.
METHODS: Search in databases such as Pubmed, Scielo, Web of Science using the terms: pregnancy, hypertension and renal impairment, pregnancy and thrombotic microangiopathies.
RESULTS: It was observed there is still a significant investigation-diagnostic gap related to the complexity of pregnancy in women diagnosed with hypertension and / or some type of renal impairment.
CONCLUSION: The performance of multidisciplinary teams related to the care of pregnant women with renal impairment and hypertension is of the utmost importance, as well as the clinical-diagnostic follow-up of this population, which in many cases requires differential diagnoses.
