É no
Conclusão: A investigação identificou

Introduction: The knee joint is one of the most complex joints in the body, being the lower limb largest
intermediate joint, which by means of flexion and extension movements controls the body distance in respect
to the ground. Due to his great mobility, it is more susceptible to traumatic injuries. The knee joint becomes
more vulnerable to fractures and general injuries in the extension knee movement. In the knee hyperextension
the angles ranges from 5 to 10 degrees and angles being greater than this range characterize a joint hypermobility
condition. Objectives: It was looked for the genu recurvatum characteristic features for an early identification
in order to prevent further injuries and postural alterations. Methodology: This study was developed
with 1,120 children between 4 and 7 years of age using a goniometer for angular extension movement quantification
of the knee joint. Results: The early hyperextension characteristic was identified in 12.5% of the
samples, which were referred to preventive physiotherapeutic treatment. Conclusion: The inquiry prematurely
identified a characteristic that allows indicating the physiotherapeutic treatment by knee realignment and
postural re-education, besides protecting them from further injuries and/or fractures.
