Com a virada do século XIX para o século XX muita coisa mudou, sobretudo na historiografia. Com o objetivo de constituir uma identidade nacional, o Estado investiu fortemente na influência da produção intelectual realizada no referido século. No contexto amazônico, a crise das oligarquias amazonenses mediante a queda da economia gomífera refletiu na necessidade de também constituir uma identidade regional, sobretudo com a influência dos intelectuais da época. Com ênfase na pessoa de Ferreira Reis, o artigo em questão se propõe a identificar alguns eixos e matrizes discursivas que possam ter influenciado o pensamento inicial do intelectual amazonense na escrita de sua obra de estreia, História do Amazonas (1931).
With the turn of the 19th century to the 20th century, a lot changed, especially in historiography. With the intention of establishing a national identity, the state invested heavily in influencing the intellectual production of that century. In the Amazonian context, the crisis of the Amazonian oligarchies due to the collapse of the gum economy led to the need to also establish a regional identity, especially with the influence of the intellectuals of the period. With an emphasis on Ferreira Reis, the article in question proposes to identify some discursive pillars and matrices that may have influenced the initial ideas of the Amazonian intellectual in the writing of his first book, History of Amazonas (1931).
