O artigo elencaos elementos que demarcaram o iluminismo e reflete sobre as suas contribuições para a educação. Como instrumento da coleta de dados priorizou-se o uso de textos em três momentos, a saber: primeiro -dos tipos “resposta à pergunta oque é o Esclarecimento?; segundo -análises sobre o pensamento rousseauniano a partir dos textos “Emílio ou da educação” e “Projeto de Educação” suscitando o debate sobre a educação humanista fundamentada na vivência do Contrato Social e nos fundamentos de uma educação para a sensibilidade; terceiro -discutir o legado das ideias iluministas no processo educacional na realidade brasileira.
The article lists the elements that defined the Enlightenment and reflects its contributions to education. As a data collection instrument, the use of texts was prioritized in three moments, namely: first -of the types “answer to the question what is Clarification?; second -analyzes of Rousseau's thought from the texts “Emile or Education” and “Education Project” raising the debate on humanist education based on the experience of the Social Contract and on the foundations of an education for sensitivity; third -discusses the legacy of Enlightenment ideas in the educational process in the Brazilian reality.
