O objetivo deste artigo é discutir o tema da identidade no romance A memória de nossas memórias, da escritora estadunidense Nicole Krauss. Com base nas diversas personagens que habitam nos interstícios da narrativa é possível desenvolver uma pesquisa alicerçada em temáticas concernentes à Regimes Totalitários implantados durante o século XX, bem como, elementos culturais e identitários que foram silenciados durante um espaço de tempo. Krauss reitera fatos e períodos históricos que reportam ao momento da Segunda Guerra Mundial e ao ciclo pós-Guerra. Partindo do conceito de identidade fomentado por Hall (2014), Woodward (2014) e memória cultural por Assmann (2011), as discussões que circundam a partir da cultura e identidades estão em voga no âmbito da narrativa ficcional, permitindo ao leitor uma profunda reflexão sobre a condição histórica, cultural e identitária das personagens, por meio do exercício mnemônico, buscando ressignificar alguns eventos e compreender situações conflituosas do passado.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the theme of identity in the novel Great House, by the American writer Nicole Krauss. Based on the different characters who live in the interstices of the narrative, it is possible to develop a research based on themes related to the Totalitarian Regimes implanted during the Twentieth Century, as well as cultural and identity elements that have been silenced over a period of time. Krauss reiterates facts and historical periods that refer to the time of the World War II and the postwar cycle. Starting from the concept of identity fostered by Hall (2014), Woodward (2014) and cultural memory by Assmann (2011), the discussions that surround from the culture and identities, are in vogue within the fictional narrative, allowing the reader a deep reflection on the historical, cultural and identity of the characters through the mnemonic exercise, seeking to resignify some events and to understand conflictual situations of the past.
