A emergência de novas técnicas de reprodução mecânica de imagem abriu caminho para a produção de “imagens de si” em vários álbuns de fotografias em Paris e Porto Alegre. Com este artigo, propomo-nos discutir as relações entre fotografia e retrato "fin de siécle" (na segunda metade do século XIX), em Paris e Porto Alegre, especialmente a produção de “imagens de si” como “representações de si”.
The emergence of new techniques of mechanical image reproduction opened up the path for the production of “self images” in various photographs albums in Paris and Porto Alegre (Brazil). With this article, we intend to discuss the relations between photography and portrait "fin de siécle" (in the second half of the 19th century), in Paris and Porto Alegre, specially the production of “self images” as “self-representations”.
