O presente texto busca apresentar uma breve discussão a respeito das políticas públicas acionadas para solucionar o problema da infância pobre no Amazonas, durante os anos de 1930-1950, período referente aos governos de Getúlio Vargas no Brasil. Neste recorte, enfatizo a situação da Assistência Social na cidade de Manaus-AM, tendo como objetivo principal problematizar a criação e implementação do Juizado de Menores no Amazonas no ano de 1935, bem como a atuação do primeiro Juiz de Menores André Vidal de Araújo. Este artigo é um recorte do relatório final da pesquisa “Assistência Social a crianças desvalidas e nomeadas “delinquentes” na cidade de Manaus no período de 1930-1950”, desenvolvida no Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Cientifica (PIBIC) 2018/2019, abrigada institucionalmente no Núcleo de Pesquisa em Políticas, Instituições e Práticas Sociais (POLIS/UFAM).
This text aims to presente a brief discussion about the public policies implemented to solve the problem of poor childhood in Amazonas, during the years 1935-1945, period referring to the governments of Getúlio Vargas in Brazil. In this clipping, I emphasize the situation of Social Assistance in the city of Manaus-AM, having as its main objective to problematize the creation and implementation of the Juvenile Court in Amazonas in 1935, as well as the performance of the first Juvenile Judge André Vidal de Araújo.
