Com o desenvolvimento tecnológico e a popularização da internet, o número de informações aumentou substancialmente e, consequentemente, é notória a necessidade da indexação automática, para acompanhar esse crescimento, que é muito rápido. Com base nessa problemática, estudiosos preocupados com o processo de indexação dessas informações começaram a tentar aprimorar a indexação automática, com ferramentas e técnicas como a bibliometria. Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a relação e o valor que a bibliometria tem com a indexação automática, apresentando alguns estudos que utilizaram das leis bibliométricas de Zipf, e do Ponto de Transição de Goffman para o aprimoramento da indexação automática. Ao fim, é evidenciada que a aplicação de leis bibliométricas para a indexação automática é possível e aumenta a qualidade e eficácia dos sistemas, mas é necessária a realização de mais estudos de aplicação da bibliometria na indexação automática
With the technological development and the popularization of the internet, the number of information has increasedsubstantially and, consequently, is notorious the need for automatic indexing, to keep up with this growth, which is very fast. Based on thisproblematic, scholars concerned with the indexing process this information started to try to improve the automatic indexing, with tools and techniques such as Bibliometrics. This article aims to present the relationship and the value that the Bibliometrics has with automatic indexing, showing some studies that used Zipf's laws of bibliométricas, and from the pointoftransition from Goffman to the improvement of automatic indexing. At the end, is evidenced that the law enforcement bibliométricas for automatic indexing is possible and increases the quality and effectiveness of the systems,the methodological proceduresadopted are to make an explanatory analysis and the work of Mamfrim (1991); Robredo (1991); and Guedes (1994)but it is necessary to carry out further studies of application of Bibliometrics in automatic indexing
