Apesar da grande aversão que os insetos provocam nas pessoas, esses são de grande importância para o meio ambiente, para a sociedade e também para as entidades policiais, pois, contribuem muitas vezes na elucidação de crimes. A utilização de insetos na área policial é conhecida como Entomologia Forense, onde se procura determinar o intervalo da morte através do relacionamento dos estágios de decomposição dos cadáveres, utilizando-se para isso, a análise de diferentes estágios da fauna cadavérica. A finalidade principal deste estudo é realizar uma revisão bibliográfica e discorrer sobre a importância da Entomologia Forense como ferramenta de apoio a solução de determinados crimes, tornando-se assim um aliado da Lei. O estudo buscou elucidar como os insetos podem ser úteis para os profissionais que atuam na Entomologia Forense como ferramenta de apoio na solução de muitos crimes. Assim, pode-se considerar que a ciência da entomologia forense é mais uma forma de ajudar na investigação e elucidação de crimes pela área policial
Despite the great aversion that insects cause in people, they are of great importance for the environment, society and also for police entities, as they often contribute to the elucidation of crimes. The use of insects in the police area is known as Forensic Entomology, where the aim is to determine the interval of death through the relationship between the stages of decomposition of corpses, using the analysis of different stages of cadaveric fauna. The main purpose of this study is to carry out a bibliographical review and discuss the importance of Forensic Entomology as a tool to support the solution of certain crimes, thus becoming an ally of the Law. The study sought to elucidate how insects can be useful for professionals who work in Forensic Entomology as a support tool in solving many crimes. Thus, it can be considered that the science of forensic entomology is another way of helping in the investigation and elucidation of crimes by the police.
