Dado o atual status da língua inglesa como a língua da globalização, torna-se fundamental a questão da sua inteligibilidade entre falantes de diversas línguas maternas. Em continuidade à pesquisa de Becker (2013), em que foi analisada a inteligibilidade de falantes de inglês de diversas nacionalidades, tendo brasileiros como ouvintes, a presente pesquisa teve por objetivo investigar a inteligibilidade de brasileiros falantes de inglês por brasileiros, para verificar a questão do benefício de interlínguas similares. Os resultados deste trabalho mostraram uma média de 75% de inteligibilidade dos enunciados, valor bastante próximo do obtido pelos ouvintes brasileiros com falantes de línguas diversas

As English has achieved the status of a global language, intelligibility turned into a paramount issue concerning English speakers whose mother languages differ. Following Becker (2013), a study in which the researcher analyzed the intelligibility between English speakers from different countries and Brazilian listeners, the present research aimed at investigating the benefit of sharing a similar interlanguage for intelligibility: Brazilians producing the utterances which are perceived by other Brazilians. Results showed an average of 75% of intelligibility of the utterances. This number is very close to the ones found in Becker (2013), with speakers of English of other nationalities.
