Este artigo é fruto de trabalho desenvolvido no âmbito de estudossobreaspectos culturais, sociais e econômicos frente àdinâmica de uma cidade sergipana de grande relevância socioeconômica regional. O objetivo do mesmo foi destacar as nuances econômica e social frente a centralidade que a cidade de Itabaiana possui na rede urbana do estado de Sergipe, com alcance no cenário nacional. Utilizou-se como metodologia ao longo do estudo a pesquisa documental e bibliográfica, aanálise de paisagem e a observação não-estruturada. Percebe-se ao longo da pesquisa a interdependência econômica da sede urbana com o meio rural frente as interações socioeconômicas estabelecidas na região. Além disso, ressalta-se a centralidade da feira como patrimônio cultural de um povo, indo além dos fatores econômicos, e o papel fundamental do comércio diante do desenvolvimento local.
This article is the result of work developed in the scope of studies on cultural, social and economic aspects in the face of the dynamics of a city in Sergipe with great regional socioeconomic relevance. Its objective was to highlight the economic and social nuances given the centrality that the city of Itabaiana has in the urban network of the state of Sergipe, with reach on the national scene. Documentary and bibliographic research, landscape analysis and unstructured observation were used throughout the study. Throughout the research, the economic interdependence of the urban headquarters with the rural environment is perceived in view of the socioeconomic interactions established in the region. In addition, the centrality of the fair as a cultural heritage of a people is emphasized, going beyond economic factors, andthe fundamental role of commerce in the face of local development.
