Depois de apresentar as posições de Kant a respeito da mentira assumidas ao longo da sua obra, em particu-lar, na Doutrina da virtude (1797), o artigo explicita a crítica de Benjamim Constant a Kant e, em seguida, a resposta de Kant centrada na análise semântica das teses de Constant e na crítica do conceito de direito de mentir.
After presenting Kant’s views on lying expressed in his writings of different periods, in particular, in The Doctrine of Virtue (1797), the article analyses Benjamin Constant’s criticism of Kant’s and the answer of the German philosopher centered on semantic analysis of the theses put forward by Constant as well as of the concept of right to lie.
