O estudo do léxico de determinado grupo social mostra como este grupo vê aquilo que o cerca e a forma como isso auxilia na sua rotina. Isso evidencia que o léxico possui o repertório cultural desse grupo, incluindo os lugares pelos quais passam esses indivíduos. Pelo estudo dos nomes próprios de lugares, ou seja, a Toponímia, depreende-se como o homem agiu, e ainda age, sobre o meio em que vive, refletindo sua história e costumes nas denominações. Logo, este trabalho tem por objetivo investigar os topônimos referentes à região macroeconômica de Maringá, região esta que, no passado, já era vista como em potencial para o crescimento econômico. Para o embasamento teórico-metodológico relativo à Toponímia recorreu-se, em especial, aos trabalhos de Dick (1990;1992;2006). Deseja-se, também, expor a importância das pesquisas toponímicas, como disciplina atuante na retomada da história da sociedade e responsável pela preservação de fatos culturais em determinada área geográfica.
The lexicon study of determined social group shows how this group sees his surroundings and how this helps in your routine. This shows that the lexicon has the cultural repertoire of this group, including the places through which pass these individuals. By the study of proper names of places, in other words, the Toponymy, it is possible to deduce how man has acted, and still acts, on the environment they live in, reflecting their history and customs in the denominations. Thus, this study aims to investigate the place names related to macroeconomic region of Maringa, region that, in the past, it was seen as potential for economic growth. For the theoretical and methodological basis on Toponymy was used, in particular, to Dick's work (1992). This works also wants to expose the importance of Toponymics researches, as a discipline active in the resumption of the social history and responsable for the preservation of cultural facts in determined geographical area.
