This article explains, on the occasion of the Jubilee, how the Church generates hope. To this end, it describes the current reasons for despair, namely, the situation of a world damaged and threatened by various causes: pandemics, wars, inequality, and ecological crisis; and, on the other hand, the difficulties within the Church in its mission to evangelize. Overcoming these challenges and difficulties will depend on the Church focusing on its mission. It must scrutinize the signs of these times to discern how Christ, through His Spirit, is acting. The outlook must be fundamentally positive. The Church possesses criteria to carry out this discernment. On the pastoral level, it must translate eschatological salvation into actions of charity and justice, and especially into the care for our common home, given that it is in danger.
Este artículo explica, con motivo del Jubileo, cómo la Iglesia genera esperanza. A este efecto, describe las razones actuales de la desesperanza, a saber, la situación de un mundo dañado y amenazado por diversas causas: pandemias, guerras, desigualdad y crisis ecológica; y, por otra parte, las dificultades al interior de la Iglesia para evangelizar. La superación de estas desafíos y dificultades, dependerá de que la Iglesia se concentre en su misión. Ella ha de escrutar en los signos de estos tiempos cómo Cristo, a través de su Espíritu, actúa. La mirada tiene que ser fundamentalmente positiva. La Iglesia cuenta con criterios para realizar este discernimiento. En el orden pastoral, ella ha de concretar la salvación escatológica en acciones de caridad y justicia, y, especialmente, en el cuidado de la Casa Común dado que esta peligra.
