Até hoje há uma dificuldade muito grande na formação de um público leitor na America Latina. As bibliotecas públicas existentes, em sua maioria, não são visíveis o que provoca um distanciamento das políticas públicas e um distanciamento maior na interação com a comunidade. Na verdade se observa, cada vez mais, que as pessoas que não foram beneficiadas pela Revolução de Gutemberg dificílmente poderão se utilizar da revolução tecnológica para serem incluídas na sociedade da informação. Esse fenômeno faz com que as desigualdades aumentam e que se busque um novo modelo de biblioteca pública que possa incluir a grande massa da população na sociedade do conhecimento.
Up to nowadays, there has been a very strong difficulty in order to train readers in South America. The public libraries , in their majority, are not clearly visible. This aspect provokes a distance from the public policies and an even bigger distance between interaction and community. In real terms, it is possible to observe that the people who have not been benefitiated by Gutemberg Revolution will be rarely able to make use of technological revolution in order to be included in the information society. This phenomenon is the responsible agent the makes the inequalities increase. There is an attempt to search for a new model of public library to include a great amount of the populationin the society of knowledge.
