As literaturas africanas e a literatura negra brasileira tornaram-se alvo de maior atenção nos últimos anos, no Brasil, em decorrência das alterações ocorridas na Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação (LDB), por meio das Leis 10.639/03 e 11.645/08, no intuito de atender a diversidade racial do país e institucionalizar o ensino da história dos africanos e seus descendentes, bem como dos povos indígenas. Refletir sobre o papel do ensino superior nesse contexto é o objetivo deste artigo, tomando como base alguns cursos de licenciatura em Letras, ofertados por instituições públicas do estado da Bahia.
African literatures and Brazilian black literature have received greater attention in recent years in Brazil, due to the changes in the Law of Directives and Bases of Education (LDB), through Laws 10.639/03 and 11.645/08, in order to meet the racial diversity of the country and institutionalize the teaching of the history of Africans and their descendants, as well as indigenous peoples. Reflecting on the role of higher education in this context is the objective of this article, based on some degree courses in Letters, offered by public institutions of the state of Bahia.
