A perseguição nazista contra o teórico Rudolf Arnheim e contra sua obra Cinema como Arte manteve
metade do livro desconhecida até 1979 na Alemanha e em muitos paÃses ainda até hoje. A outra
metade foi adaptada para o inglês nos Estados Unidos pelo próprio autor, e serviu como base para
traduções nas lÃnguas portuguesa, espanhola e francesa. O artigo mostra quais são as maiores
diferenças entre o texto original e a tradução parcial e defende a necessidade da retomada do texto
integral para fugir de alguns erros que marcam a interpretação que se faz da visão de Arnheim sobre
o cinema.

The persecution from the Nazis against the researcher Rudolf Arnheim and against his germane book
Film als Kunst, have conserved a half of Arnheim´s thought about cinema unknown until 1979 in
Germany, when the book was reedited, and until today overall. Half of the book was translated into
English in the United States by the owner author in 1957, and it has become the base for translations
into Portuguese, Spanish and French. This paper shows the major differences between the original
book and the partial translations, and purposes the opportunity of take back the integral one to
avoid some mistakes that occur upon Arnheim´s vision of cinema.
