This article aims to analyze the importance of music as a form of expression and manifestation against the period of the Civil-Military Dictatorship, established in Brazil during the years 1964 to 1985. Despite censorship, exile, arrests, torture and deaths, Brazilian artists refused to stay silently and used music as one of the main tools to combat the ideology of the tax system. Even if they had to use creativity and, through codes and metaphors, transmit their ideas and opinions to the public. This work uses the songs written by singers of the time as Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, etc. in order to make an analysis of the "secret" messages present in his works.
