O Espiritismo ensina que é possível a manifestação de um Espírito encarnado através de um médium, se ele estiver em um estado alterado de consciência, como no sono. Porém, recentemente, a possibilidade disso também ocorrer caso o encarnado esteja em estado de vigília se tornou uma questão controversa. Neste artigo, aprofundaremos nas obras básicas da Codificação espírita para descobrir como o tema é nela tratado, e se há maior respaldo doutrinário para essa questão. Embora exista uma mensagem contida na Revista Espírita que sugere essa possibilidade, nós mostramos que, segundo o Espiritismo, se o encarnado estiver em estado de vigília não pode se afastar do corpo e, portanto, dar manifestação.
The Spiritism says that it is possible to have a mediumistic manifestation of an incarnate Spirit, if he is in an altered state of consciousness, as in the sleep. However, recently, the possibility of this phenomenon to happen with an incarnate in an awaken state of consciousness has became a controversial question. In this paper, we went deep in the basic books of the spiritist codification in order to find out how this subject is dealt with, and if there is any support from Spiritism for the question. Althoug there is a message published in the Spiritist Magazine that suggests the possibility of having an awaken incarnate mediumistic manifestation, we show that, according to the Spiritism, if the person is awake, he (she) cannot be away from his (her) body and, therefore, he (she) cannot provide a mediumistic manifestation.
