O presente artigo tem como objetivo buscar as representações da cidade de São Paulo das duas primeiras décadas do século XX, por meio do diálogo entre imagens e textos produzidos no período, com destaque a António de Alcântara Machado. Pela articulação entre a concretude citadina e algumas produções fotográficas e literárias, pretendemos analisar a formação de determinados imaginários urbanos ligados à modernidade. Igualmente, intentamos contribuir ao debate entre História e Cidade.
This article aims to seek representations of the city of São Paulo in the first two decades of the twentieth century through a dialogue between images and texts produced in that period, with emphasis on António de Alcântara Machado. Through the articulation between city concreteness, and a few photographic and literary productions, we intend to analyze the formation of some urban imaginary linked to modernity. Likewise, we wish to contribute to the debate between History and City.
