A maternidade e a distinção de classe nas narrativas de mulheres de Claudia e Zero Hora

O artigo se propõe analisar dois conjuntos de narrativas de mulheres veiculadas em duas plataformas da mídia impressa: o jornal Zero Hora (maio de 2008) e a revista Claudia (maio de 2011). Ambas denominam as protagonistas das histórias de “mães coragem”. Pretende-se destacar as diferenças decorrentes das distintas posições de classe social, reveladas através dos valores associados ao papel de mãe, exercido por essas mulheres. Este estudo contempla as bases metodológicas dos estudos culturais, ao qual se associa uma perspectiva cultural do jornalismo, entendendo o texto jornalístico como naturalmente impregnado por sistemas simbólicos, convenções e valores. Os resultados da análise revelam que ZH e Claudia colocam em circulação representações que reduzem a identidade feminina ao exercício da maternidade. No entanto, em relação às diferentes posições de classe, ZH cria a falsa impressão que nossos problemas sociais podem ser resolvidos, bastando para isso empenho e mérito individual das mulheres-mães de classes desprivilegiadas.

The article has the purpose of analyzing a set of five women’s narratives in Zero Hora newspaper (May, 10th 2008) in contrast with other five histories published in Claudia magazine (May, 2011), both named "brave mothers" . It is intended to highlight the distinctions arising from different social class positions, revealed through the values associated to the role of mother, played by these women. The study focuses on the methodological foundations of cultural studies, associated to the perspective of cultural analysis in journalism. From this point of view, the journalistic text is naturally linked with symbolic systems, conventions and values, putting into circulation some representations that strengthen and induce certain behaviors. The outcomes of this study suggest that while both media texts identify feminine identity with the role of mother, women’s narratives from disadvantaged social classes, published in Zero Hora, build the false impression that Brazilian social problems can be solved through individual effort.
