A morte da personagem prostituta traz à tona as discussões acerca das tensões existentes entre os gêneros na literatura. Exploramos o tema da morte da personagem prostituta Maggie do romance urbano Maggie: A Girl Of The Streets (1896), de Stephen Crane destacando sua trajetória, a qual é marcada pelo destino e pela fatalidade, cujo efeito de caracterização tenciona as questões morais da sociedade que a condenam e a conduzem para um final trágico, sinalizando sua inaptidão em sobreviver, demonstrando que as forças externas comandam seu destino. Enfatizamos as posições opostas que caracterizam sua morte.

The death of the character, a street walking, brings to the fore the discussions about the tensions between the genres in literature. We explore the death of Maggie in the urban novel Maggie: A Girl Of The Streets (1896) of Stephen Crane, to highlight the trajectory of the prostituta image, marked by fate and fatality, whose characterizing effect intends the moral issues of society that condemn her and lead her to a tragic end, signaling their inability to survive, demonstrating that the external forces command her destiny. We the opposing positions that characterize her death.
