NAÇÃO E REGIÃO: DO IMPÉRIO À REPÚBLICA (ALGUMAS PROVOCAÇÕES TEÓRICAS)

Tendo como ponto inicial a idéia do tema proposto – Nação e Região – este texto interroga a possibilidade de se construir a interpretação e o ensino da história da Nação independentemente da história da região. Para tanto, o texto percorre um trajeto de diálogo com algumas das mais importantes interpretações da história construídas pela escatologia transcendental cristã, a partir de Santo Agostinho, a escatologia materialista dos Iluministas e do marxismo e as contribuições da nova história cultural. Sua proposta não é construir nenhum nova forma de interpretação da história, mas dialogar com essas contribuições já consagradas para indicar algumas de suas dificuldades, em particular alguns paradoxos advindos da inserção das concepções de história nos limites das teses ideológicas.

Taking as starting point the idea of the proposed theme - Nation and Region - this text
interrogates the possibility of constructing the interpretation and the teaching of history of the nation
regardless of the region's history. For this purpose, the text proposes a dialogue with some of the most
important interpretations of history built by Christian transcendental eschatology (St. Augustine),
materialistic eschatology of Marxism and the Enlightenment and the contributions of the new cultural
history. Our proposal is not to build any new form of interpretation of history, but a dialogue with these
contributions already well known in the academic world in order to indicate some of their difficulties, in
particular some paradoxes arising from insertion of the conceptions of history within the limits of
ideological theses.
