Atrelada primeiramente aos debates ligados à constituição dos estados nacionais, que o filósofo renegava sob a perspectiva da crÃtica aos valores modernos empreendida pelo romantismo wagneriano, a concepção de Cultura em Nietzsche sofre uma alteração radical em contato com a perspectiva historiográfica de Jacob Burckhardt. A partir deste momento, Nietzsche não mais remeterá o problema da cultura à “renovação da cultura alemãâ€, cara a seus primeiros escritos, mas depositará o problema sobre a noção de “grandeza†(“grandeza históricaâ€, em Burckhardt), necessariamente desvinculada de qualquer substrato conceitual ligado à constituição do Estado. Assim, o antigermanismo é uma caracterÃstica que atravessa a obra de Nietzsche como um reflexo do desenvolvimento de sua concepção da cultura.
Primarily linked to issues related to the establishment of Nation States, in which the philosopher renounced the critical perspective of modern values undertaken by Wagnerian romanticism, the concept of culture in Nietzsche undergoes a radical change when in contact with Jacob Burckhardt's historiography. From that moment on, Nietzsche no longer refers to the problem of culture as the "renewal of German culture," as in his earlier writings, but the problem will be placed on the notion of “greatness†(“historical grandeurâ€, in Burckhardt), necessarily detached from any conceptual aspect linked to the State’s constitution. Thus, the “antigermanism†is a feature that runs through Nietzsche's work as a reflection of the development of his conception of culture.
