O artigo analisa a noção de regionalismo em alguns ensaios de Antonio Candido e a sua relação com o pensamento social do próprio autor. O estudo procura caracterizar a compreensão do crítico sobre o conceito, mostrando que há uma oscilação no modo de enten der o fenômeno entre uma postura mais analítica e uma de maior ajuizamento. A ideia é a de que essa irá predominar na sua maneira de abordar o regionalismo, e a base para elucidar a posição negativa sobre esse pode estar vinculada à compreensão que o autor tem da própria formação histórico - social brasileira, explicitada em seus estudos de sociologia.
The article anal yzes the notion of regionalism in some essays by Antonio Candido and his relationship with the author’s own social thought. The study seeks to characterize the critical’s understanding of the concept, showing that there is an oscillation in the way of understanding the phenomenon between a mor e analytical posture and one of greater judgment. The idea is that this will predominate in his way of understanding regionalism, and the basis for elucidating this negative position on regionalism may be linked to author’s own understanding of Brazilian h istorical - social formation, explained in his studies of Sociology.
