O artigo objetiva analisar os números das notificações de violência contra a pessoa idosa realizadas em Manaus/AM, na busca de identificar avanços e desafios bem como os elementos que interferem no processo de enfrentamento dessa violência contra a pessoa idosa, no período de 2012 até 2021, à luz da Lei nº 12.461/11. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, estruturado a partir de pesquisa quanti-qualitativa. Os métodos e procedimentos utilizados foram análise documental e pesquisa de campo, com o uso de entrevista a 16 gestores das principais instituições que integram a rede de proteção e enfrentamento da violência contra a pessoa idosa em Manaus. Passados mais de dez anos da publicação da Lei 12.461, que tornou obrigatória a notificação em caso de suspeitas ou confirmação de violência contra a pessoa idosa, questiona-se sobre seu efetivo cumprimento por parte das instituições que integram a rede de proteção e enfrentamento, bem como a forma como tais notificações têm ocorrido e seu resultado. Partiu-se da hipótese de que, após a efetivação da lei, haveria substancial incremento do número de notificações realizadas na cidade de Manaus/Amazonas. A pesquisa concluiu que as notificações realizadas estão muito aquém daquilo que preconizam as políticas públicas, devido principalmente ao desconhecimento de sua obrigatoriedade e importância ou receio de fazê-lo pelos profissionais das diversas instituições que compõem a referida rede de proteção, apontando um quadro preocupante e que requer urgente intervenção.

The article aims to analyze the numbers of notifications of violence against the elderly registered in Manaus/AM, in the search to identify advances and challenges, as well as the elements that interfere in the process of coping with this violence, in the period from 2012 to 2021, in the light of the Law No. 12,461/11. This is a descriptive study, structured from quantitative and qualitative research. The methods and procedures used are document analysis and field research, with the use of interviews with 16 managers of the main institutions that are part of the network of protection and confrontation of violence against the elderly in Manaus. More than ten years after the publication of Law 12,461, which made notifications mandatory in case of suspicion or confirmation of violence against the elderly, we question its effective compliance by the institutions that make up the network of protection, as well as how such notifications have occurred and their outcome. It was based on the hypothesis that, after the law was enacted, there would be a substantial increase in the number of notifications made in the city of Manaus/Amazonas. The research concludes that the notifications made are far below what public policies recommend, mainly due to the lack of knowledge of their obligation and importance, or fear of doing so presented by professionals from the various institutions that make up the aforementioned protection network, pointing to a worrying scenario that requires urgent intervention.
