O presente artigo faz um estudo da poesia e da prosa de Machado de Assis, partindo da leitura do poema "Mundo interior", em contraponto às ideias de outros autores como Shakespeare, Goethe e Poe acerca da natureza humana e das contradições inerentes ao homem.
This paper is a study on the poetry and prose of Machado de Assis. It focuses on the poem "Inner World" as opposed to the ideas of other authors such as Shakespeare, Goethe, and Poe about human nature, and the contradictions inherent to man.
