Essa pesquisa objetiva analisar a representação do “mundo plástico” no livro didático Interchange, numa perspectiva intercultural. A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa qualitativa, realizada através de um questionário aberto aplicado a alunos de inglês. Essa pesquisa fundamentou-se em estudos numa perspectiva intercultural. O material Interchange não apresenta uma abordagem que desperte a consciência crítica e intercultural dos alunos, embora o livro traga elementos de vários países e abordar culturas diversas. Ela nos fez perceber que nós, professores, devemos contribuir com o processo de educação para a crítica buscando materiais complementares que viabilizem uma melhor criticidade dos discentes.
This work aimed at analyzing the representation of “plastic world” present in the textbook Interchange, in an intercultural and reflexive perspective. The methodology used to this work was the qualitative research and it was carried out through an open questionnaire applied to English students. This research was based theoretically on studies on the intercultural perspective, by authors such as Siqueira (2005; 2009; 2010; 2012), Rajagopalan (2009), Scheyerl (2012), Mendes (2012), among others. The material Interchange does not present an approach able to awaken the students’ critical and intercultural consciousness, although the book has a lot of different countries’ approaches at different cultures. It also made us realize that we, teachers, must contribute to the education process for criticism by seeking for comple mentary materials that enable criticality of the students .
