Este artigo tem como intuito analisar o discurso de John Milton a partir das obras Tenência dos reis e magistrados (1649) e Defesa do povo inglês(1651). Para isto, nos basearemos na perspectiva do conceito do “polÃtico†de Pierre Rosanvallon, para demonstrar que o pensamento do autor é uma tentativa de responder aos problemas que o incomodavam no século XVII, e como este está inserido e influenciado pelos conflitos presentes neste perÃodo. Os problemas e conflitos estavam relacionados tanto a perda de prestÃgio e poder de Carlos I como a insatisfação da sociedade inglesa do século XVII com relação ao governo do Rei. Desta forma, a hipótese é que o argumento de John Milton foi criado a partir do contexto, marcado pela instabilidade polÃtica e a importância da BÃblia, entendida pela sociedade da época como a fonte de toda verdade.
This article is meant to examine the John Milton's speech from the Lieutenancy works of kings and magistrates (1649) and Defense of the English people (1651). For this, we will base the perspective of the concept of "political" Pierre Rosanvallon to show that the author's thinking is an attempt to respond to problems that bothered him in the seventeenth century, and how it is inserted and influenced by the conflicts present in this period . The problems and conflicts were related to both the loss of prestige and power of Charles I as dissatisfaction of English society of the seventeenth century with respect to the King government. Thus, the hypothesis is that the argument of John Milton was created from the context marked by political instability and the importance of the Bible, understood by the society of the time as the source of all truth.
