O bairro e os enredos do lugar

O texto constitui um resgate do termo bairro a partir dos estudos desenvolvidos pela geografia humanista cultural, centrando-se em apresentar uma leitura da unidade urbana através do seu núcleo simbólico, esse entendido metaforicamente como uma “trama de enredos”. Desse modo, parte-se do princípio que o bairro é uma porção do espaço vivido e sentido, cujos moradores demarcam seu “ir” e “vir” na espessura do lugar, desde a rua onde se mora, passando pelas esquinas e quarteirões mais próximos, até encontrar o “coração” ou a trama densa do bairro. Essa trama encontra-se tecida por uma série de enredos narrados cotidianamente pelas ações comuns e intrínsecas do lugar nos seus espaços de diálogos (templo religioso, praça, mercado público etc.), sendo responsáveis pelas ocasiões mais propícias ao envolvimento mútuo das pessoas e, por conseguinte, pelo pulsar mais intenso da identidade local, que ressoa suas especificidades para outros recantos da célula urbana. À luz deste olhar pretende-se apresentar uma leitura geográfica para o bairro, associando-o ao conceito de lugar no entendimento de sua trama central de relações identitárias.

The paper represents a rescue of the neighborhood term from the studies developed in Humanist-Cultural Geography, focused in presenting a reading of the urban unit through its symbolic core, this being metaphorically understood as a “mesh of plots”. That way, from the principle that the neighborhood is a portion of the living space and meaning, whose residents set up their “come” and “go” in the thickness of the place, from the street where they live on, passing by the corners and blocks closer until they find the “heart” or the dense mesh of the neighborhood. This mesh is woven by a series of plots narrated by the usual and intrinsic ordinary actions of the place in its spaces of dialogue (religious temples, squares, public markets etc..), responsible for the more conducive occasions of mutual involvement of the people, and, consequently, by the most intense pulse of the local identity that echoes its specificities to other corners of the urban cell. In the light of this outlook the intention is to present a geographical reading for the neighborhood, associating it with the concept of place in order to understand its main plot of identity relations.
