Este artigo objetiva realizar uma reflexão sobre a temática do refúgio na sociedade brasileira, a partir do olhar do Serviço Social, destacando a contribuição desta profissão na luta pela eliminação do desrespeito a todos os grupos historicamente discriminados e oprimidos por suas diferenças de classe, gênero, orientação sexual, etnia ou país de origem, em função da construção de uma sociedade mais justa e ética. A escolha pela temática justifica-se por sua complexidade e desafios que surgem no cotidiano de trabalho de diferentes categorias profissionais, requerendo múltiplos olhares voltados para a defesa, a garantia e a materialização dos direitos da população refugiada. Para este trabalho, foram analisados o Código de Ética Profissional de 1993, a Lei 9.474/97 e alguns textos referentes à temática do refúgio. O resultado desta análise aponta que defender e lutar garantia dos direitos da população refugiada corresponde a um grande desafio na sociedade brasileira atual, e por isto, ainda temos um longo e árduo caminho a percorrer.

This article aims to reflect on the theme of refuge in Brazilian society, fr om the perspective of Social Work, highlighting the contribution of this profession in the struggle to eliminate disrespect for all groups historically discriminated and oppressed by their differences of class, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or country of origin, due to the construction of a more just and ethical society. The choice for the theme is justified by its complexity and challenges that arise in the daily work of different professional categories, requiring multiple perspectives aimed at the defense, guarantee and materialization of the rights of the refugee population. For this work, the Code of Professional Ethics of 1993 and Law 9.474/ 97 and some texts referring to the refuge theme were analyzed. The result of this analysis points out that to defend and fight for the guarantee of the rights of the refugee population corresponds to a great challenge in the current Brazilian society, and for this reason, we still have a long and arduous way to go.
