Cada vez mais é possível notar que o corpo vem ocupando espaço central no cenário contemporâneo. Essa idolatria do corpo tem como ponto de referência o padrão fabricado e imposto pela indústria cultural, midiática e do espetáculo. Tendo isso como ponto de partida e levando em conta o processo de formação do Eu sob a ótica da psicanálise, o presente artigo busca fazer pensar a respeito de como essa exigência de adequação a um ideal propositalmente inatingível atravessa o processo de construção e manutenção da subjetividade dos integrantes de nossa sociedade contemporânea. Para isso recorremos a uma revisão bibliográfica de Freud à Lacan acerca do conceito de corpo e como este está intimamente relacionado com duas instâncias de extrema importância para a constituição do sujeito. Contudo, é importante dizer que quando se fala de corpo e da posição a que ele é destinado, não se trata apenas de uma questão estética, mas também do processo de construção da subjetividade. Pudemos concluir que, passando o corpo à categoria de objeto de consumo, resta ao sujeito uma crise em relação à sua subjetividade, quando se vê imerso a essa produção em massa de formas de existência.
It is increasingly possible to notice that the body has been occupying a central space in the contemporary scenario. This idolatry of the body has as its point of reference the standard manufactured and imposed by the cultural, media and entertainment industries. Taking this as a starting point and taking into account the process of formation of the Self from the perspective of psychoanalysis, this article seeks to make us think about how this demand for adaptation to a purposefully unattainable ideal permeates the process of construction and maintenance of the subjectivity of the members of our contemporary society. To this end, we resorted to a bibliographic review from Freud to Lacan on the concept of body and how it is closely related to two instances of extreme importance for the constitution of the subject. However, it is important to say that when we talk about the body and the position to which it is destined, it is not only an aesthetic issue, but also the process of construction of subjectivity. We were able to conclude that, by passing the body to the category of object of consumption, the subject is left with a crisis in relation to his subjectivity, when he finds himself immersed in this mass production of forms of existence.
