Este artigo analisa a batalha de ideias entre as propostas (neo)liberais de Friedrich von Hayek e as políticas públicas concretas dos austro-marxistas em Viena. Ambas as propostas tentaram alcançar a hegemonia no nível da sociedade no estilo de Antonio Gramsci. Enquanto o neoliberalismo se comportou como um vaso comunicante com regiões fora da Europa Central (entre outras, no mundo anglo-saxão e na América Latina), a contraproposta austro-marxista se desenvolveu exclusivamente em Viena e não teve grande influência fora da Áustria. Este ensaio tenta recuperar as ideias esquecidas da "Viena vermelha".
This article analyzes the battle of ideas between the (neo)liberal proposals of Friedrich von Hayek and the concrete public policies of the Austro-Marxists in Vienna. Both proposals attempted to achieve hegemony at the societal level in the style of Antonio Gramsci. While neoliberalism acted as a conduit with regions outside Central Europe (among others, the Anglo-Saxon world and Latin America), the Austro-Marxist counter-proposal developed exclusively in Vienna and did not have a significant influence outside Austria. This essay attempts to recover the forgotten ideas of "Red Vienna".
