This paper aims to make a review about two current and distinct theoretical approaches concerning adverbial syntax: the Semantically Based Adjunction theory (SBA) and the Functional Specifiers theory (F-Spec). Furthermore, we will show why the latter seems to be more suitable for the analysis of the adverb ‘lá’ in Brazilian Portuguese.
