A lÃngua UmutÃna é classificada como pertencente à famÃlia linguÃstica Bororo, do tronco Macro-Jê. Atualmente, trinta dos seus últimos remanescentes vivem na terra indÃgena localizada entre os rios Bugres e Paraguai, a 15 km da cidade de Barra do Bugres-MT, juntamente com diversas etnias, como: Paresi, Boróro, Nambikwara, Terena, Kaiabi, Chiquitano, Irantxe e Bakairi, totalizando aproximadamente 540pessoas.Os Umutina são monolÃngues em português e, dentre eles, há apenas dois anciãos na aldeia, de 75 e 95 anos de idade, considerados os “lembrantes†da lÃngua. Nos últimos anos, escola e a comunidade indÃgena Umutina vêm desenvolvendo um trabalho bastante interessante de revitalização da lÃngua materna e da cultura indÃgena Umutina. Neste sentido, o nosso objetivo, neste artigo, é discutir um pouco sobre o trabalho pedagógico desenvolvido pelos professores da escola indÃgena JuláParé, com relação ao ensino da lÃngua Umutina e, também, sobre a relação entre lÃnguas, resultante da grande pluralidade linguÃstica que existe na aldeia.
Umutinalanguage is classified as belonging to the linguistic family of the Boróro which in turn is a branch of the Macro-Ge root. Currently, thirty of its last remaining survivors live in a indigenous land located between the rivers Paraguay and Bugres, located 15 km from a town in the state of MatoGrosso, called Barra do Bugres; they share this land with other ethnic groups such as the Paresi, Boróro, Nambikwara, Terena, Kaiabi, ChiquitanoIrantxe and Bakairi, numbering approximately 540 people in the total. Umutinapeople speak only Portuguese and, in the whole village there are only two elders, aged 75 and 95 years old respectively, who are seen as the "lembrantes" or "keepers of the language". In recent years, the indigenous community and the school have been working together to develop a way of renewing and reviving the language and culture of Umutina people. It is in this sense, the aim of this article is to reflect on the educational method that have been developed by the teachers to teach the Umutina language and to look as well at how this impacts on the other ethnic languages that contribute to the great linguistic diversity that there is in the village.
