Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo e estudo de caso realizado com estudantes residentes no meio rural e matriculados nas escolas-núcleo no município de Itapetinga, Bahia, para conclusão das séries finais do ensino fundamental. Por meio de observações, questionários e formulários, a pesquisa foi realizada no final do ano de 2012 e início de 2013, com esses alunos e seus pais no intuito de discutir a realidade no que tange a horário e trajeto percorrido por eles até a escola na cidade. Constatou-se que há uma segregação do capital sociocultural do aluno do meio rural no bojo do planejamento educacional para essa área, sendo necessárias políticas públicas para atendimento do estudante rural.
This is a qualitative research and case study carried out with students that live in rural areas and study the final years of elementary school in a municipal school at Itapetinga, Bahia state. Through observations, questionnaires and forms, the research was carried out at the end of 2012 and beginning of 2013, with those students and their parents aiming to discuss about the schedule and route taken by them from home to school. As a conclusion, it was noticed a segregation of the social-cultural capital in the education planning in this region, which leads to the need of public policies that would help these students.
