O presente artigo mostrará prováveis interpretações e questionamentos ao redor de uma obra bastante conhecida entre a geração contemporânea, O Hobbit, do escritor, filólogo, e professor universitário inglês John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, escrito entre os anos 1937 e 1949. Será feita uma problematização acerca dos tipos e gêneros literários que podem “adaptar-se” ao livro, por meio da conceituação desses gêneros e tipos literários, investigando suas múltiplas facetas, pois quando se ouve algo sobre esta obra, muitas vezes surge algum questionamento acerca de seu caráter textual e literário. Para encontrar possíveis respostas a esses questionamentos, analisaremos a obra e seu desdobramento até a atualidade, através de teorias como as do próprio John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, Tzvetan Todorov, Gilbert Keith Chesterton, que discorrem sobre a Literatura Fantástica, com suas criaturas e cenários mágicos, a literatura infanto-juvenil, que traz a moralidade que algumas histórias podem apresentar aos jovens e até mesmo adultos, e a cultura de massa, cuja qual busca, principalmente, o comércio e os lucros através de seus produtos. Conceitos esses aos quais procuraremos associar o livro. A partir dessas análises teóricas defenderemos a ideia de que esse texto não faz parte de apenas uma dessas categorias, mas possui elementos pertencentes a cada uma delas, se tornando assim, uma obra multifacetada em relação ao caráter literário.
The present article will show probable interpretations and questionings around a work well known between the contemporary generation, The Hobbit, of the writer, philologist, and English university professor John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, written between the years 1937 and 1949. of literary types and genres that can "adapt" to the book, through the conceptualization of these genres and literary types, investigating its multiple facets, because when something is heard about this work, there is often some questioning about its textual and literary. To find possible answers to these questions, we will analyze the work and its development up to the present, through theories such as those of John Ronald Tolkien himself, Tzvetan Todorov, Gilbert Keith Chesterton, who discuss Fantastic Literature with its creatures and magical scenarios , the juvenile literature, which brings the morality that some stories can present to young people and even adults, and mass culture, which mainly seeks to trade and profits through their products. These concepts to which we will try to associate the book. From these theoretical analyzes we will defend the idea that this text does not belong to only one of these categories, but it has elements belonging to each of them, thus becoming a multifaceted work in relation to the literary character.
